Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV) is a statewide non-profit, non-governmental domestic violence coalition comprised of agencies working directly or indirectly with victims of domestic violence and family violence. The primary mission of MCADV is to bring about social change through advocacy, technical assistance, and public awareness.  As a statewide organization, MCADV is the premier agency in the state to provide information and resources pertaining to domestic violence in support of victims and survivors. MCADV provides technical assistance and training to local domestic violence program staff and supports the implementation of collaborative activities with public agencies and other service providers. MCADV serves as an informational resource; works with local and state agencies; provides technical assistance with needs assessments for member shelter programs; conducts social service and advocacy training; provides legal advocacy and promotes systems change through policy and systemic advocacy.

Mississippi Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MSCASA) is a statewide non-profit, non-governmental sexual assault coalition comprised of agencies working directly or indirectly with victims of sexual and family violence. The coalition opposes the use of violence to control others, supports respect in relationships, and encourages women to gain responsibility for their lives and in the community. The member sexual assault programs support and provide services (including crisis intervention, advocacy, case management, accompaniment, and referrals) to victims of all racial, social, ethnic, disability, religious, and economic groups without regard to age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation or lifestyle. MSCASA currently manages the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training program consisting of forty (40) hours of classroom training, clinical practicum in medical care, forensic evidence collection, and mock courtroom training to equip them to testify in court..

Domestic Abuse Family Shelter

The Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, Inc. (DAFS) is a private, non-profit United Way Agency that serves victims of domestic abuse and their children. Temporary Shelter allows victims to escape violent situations in their homes through a variety of services, including individual and group counseling; and provision of information, referrals, and placements. DAFS offers support and self-esteem groups for survivors. DAFS is active in eleven counties in hopes of heightening public awareness and educating the public about domestic violence. DAFS also offers non-residential counseling and Case Management to the survivors of domestic violence. This service enables an individual to keep in contact with the agency while also promoting newfound independence. In addition, DAFS offers Victim Advocacy and Batterer’s Educational Groups.

The Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention

The Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention is a social change agency dedicated to serving all survivors of sexual violence and co-victims of violent death, including homicide and suicide, at any point following their experience through exemplary direct services, advocacy, education, training, and activism. The Shafer Center provides services at no cost to women, children, and men of all ages who are primary and secondary victims (family and friends) of sexual violence or co-victims of homicide. Services include 24-hour crisis intervention and support through the hot-line and emergency response to local hospitals. We provide individual and family counseling, as well as support group services.

Counseling is provided to children, families, and communities using a trauma-informed lens. The vision of Clean Slate is to address the core issues that impact families and communities from a holistic approach. This approach assesses the healthy growth and development of the mind, body, and spirit of the individual and views it as imperative to engage them in the systems that surround them and should sustain but too often hinders their potential.
